10/15/19 G Suite Roundup: Updates That Matter Most

G Suite is always evolving to improve collaboration and productivity. Here are some of the latest updates to Google Sheets, Slides, and the Admin Console.

Goal-Setting and Easier Editing in Sheets

Goal Seek, a new Sheets add-on, helps you plan for and evaluate goals. It calculates the value needed in one cell to reach a specific number in another cell.

This can be especially useful for forecasting and evaluating financial goals, such as break-even points.

Google also made it easier to edit charts in Sheets. You can now click and drag chart elements to reposition them or select an element and press Backspace or Delete to remove it.

New keyboard shortcuts make chart editing even easier:

  • Tab: Move between elements
  • Enter: Select an individual element within a group
  • Escape: Return to the group
  • Arrow keys: Reposition selected elements

Customizable Captions in Slides

Live, automatically generated captions in Google Slides are now customizable. You can adjust the text size and position to make captions easier for your audience to follow.

New Admin Console Updates

G Suite administrators also have new tools to help manage and monitor their environments.

The Admin Console now includes an MTA-STS configuration diagnostics validation page, making it easier to validate your email security settings.

Admins can also access more Cloud Search data, providing greater insight into how applications are being used across their organization.
