2/4/20 G Suite Roundup: Updates That Matter Most

This week’s updates focus on enhanced Drive security for admins and new flexible audio options for Hangouts Meet users.

1. New Drive DLP (Data Loss Prevention) Security System

  • What’s New: Admins can now deploy security breach detection policies more easily using the new Drive DLP system located in the Admin console (Admin console > Security > Data Protection).

  • Key Features:

    • Granular Detection: Finer detection thresholds, nested condition alerts, and alerts based on volume and risk levels.

    • Upgraded Incident Dashboard: Search and filter alerts using Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT).

    • Custom Alert Routing: Use rules to delegate exactly who receives specific risk alerts and under what conditions.

  • Note for Admins: This new system is separate from the legacy DLP system, and admins interested in using these advanced functions can find migration instructions here.

2. Dual-Device Audio for Hangouts Meet

  • What’s New: Users can now use a phone line for meeting audio while keeping their computer’s camera and browser active for video.

  • Why It Helps: Ideal for working in noisy environments or when experiencing computer microphone/speaker issues.

  • How to Use: Dial the Join by phone number and enter the PIN listed in the meeting details as you normally would.

  • Availability: Available to all G Suite customers in the United States and Canada.
