New Rules homepage for Admins

Google Workspace as well as G Suite Basic and Business admins can now enjoy a streamlined experience while managing their security settings in the Admin console via the new Rules homepage.

Here, Admins can:

  • Manage all security settings in one place
  • Learn about and create custom security settings based on use cases
  • Use Rules Templates to implement curated security settings (Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus only)
  • Complete one-click rule analyses using the Investigation Tool (Enterprise Plus only)

Rollout for this new page has concluded.

Originality reports for Workspace for Education

Academic integrity is always a top priority for educational institutions. That’s why the Google Workspace for Education Plus team has implemented school matches for originality reports. This allows originality reports to compare students’ work not only against billions of web pages and books, but also against current and previous students at your institution. Educators can easily compare flagged passages with matching material and note whether plagiarism may have occurred. This is done while protecting the identity of the student whose material may have been plagiarized.

Rollout for this feature has concluded, and all educators at institutions using Education Plus can begin using it to verify the academic integrity of students’ work.

Improvements to BigQuery analysis using Connected Sheets

Rollout has completed for a new set of features for BigQuery, a cloud-based analytics web service for processing massive read-only data sets. While using BigQuery with Connected Sheets, users can now:

  • View column stats
  • Filter by value
  • Use calculated fields for pivot tables
  • Group pivot tables
  • Use slicers

Google Vault now supports Sites

Admins can now enjoy more security controls for Google Sites. Similar to using Vault for other applications, Workspace Admins can use Vault to set retention policies for Sites, as well as search for and export Sites content.

Rollout for this feature has begun and will conclude in mid-May 2021. This feature will be available to Workspace Business Plus, Enterprise Essentials, Enterprise Standard, Enterprise Plus, Education Fundamentals, Education Plus, and Nonprofits customers. You can find detailed instructions to help you manage Sites within Vault here.

Specify which attributes to make available for the LDAP Client

Workspace (G Suite) admins can now specify which attributes they would like to make available for the Secure LDAP client. This applies to system attributes, public custom attributes, and private custom attributes. For more information, admins should visit the Help Center.
