Why now? What’s changed?
In late 2024, the final CMMC 2.0 version was officially published. Multiple compliance consultants began releasing information detailing how to use Google Workspace for CMMC 2.0 needs. In early 2025, Google officially announced that organizations can now achieve CMMC 2.0 compliance in Google Workspace. However, success requires careful planning, proper licensing, and significant configuration effort.

- Existing infrastructure & Cost Savings: Customers can leverage their existing Google Workspace account instead of finding another solution. There are varying individual solutions available to help meet DoD standards. Yet, Google Workspace’s Enterprise plans include a bundle of features already proven to meet the CMMC 2.0 requirements. These include Client-side Encryption and Data Loss Protection. If you’re already paying for Workspace licenses for collaboration products like Gmail and Drive, a simple upgrade can be more cost-effective. This is when compared to purchasing a combination of products that meet these needs.
- Fast to implement: Simple add-ons can be ordered, allowing organizations to start enablement and achieve compliance quickly. Once customers identify which compliance level is needed, purchasing the appropriate Workspace plans and add-ons are the only steps needed. Additionally, following Google’s CMMC Implementation Guide helps start meeting the necessary requirements.
