Google Workspace has introduced a new feature in June 2025: a tool to migrate files from Microsoft SharePoint directly to Google Drive. This is an new toolset available in the built-in Data Migration service. This development simplifies the transition for organizations moving to Google Workspace, ensuring a smoother and more efficient migration process.
Key Features:
- Comprehensive Migration Capabilities: Admins can migrate data from SharePoint Online sites, including document libraries, folders, files, and associated permissions.
- Bulk Site Migration: Supports migrating data from up to 100 SharePoint Online sites simultaneously to Shared Drives in Google Drive.
- Detailed Reporting: Provides comprehensive reports on migration progress, including site and file counts (migrated/skipped), with options to export reports for error investigation and troubleshooting.
- Delta Updates: Allows for the migration of newly added or updated files, ensuring your data remains current.
Super Admins can access this new solution in the Admin console:
- Navigate to Menu > Data > Data Import & Export > Data Migration (New).
- Connect to your SharePoint Online account from which you want to copy data.
- Specify the sites to copy data from and the corresponding Drive folders for the copied data.
- Define the users and groups whose permissions should be copied.

- Business Starter, Standard, and Plus.
- Enterprise Starter, Standard, and Plus.

- Nonprofits.
