You may have heard the announcement that Google Currents, which entered beta in mid-2019, would become generally available to G Suite customers on July 6, 2020. So, what exactly is Google Currents?
What Is Google Currents?
Google Currents, formerly known as Google+ for G Suite, was an enterprise communication tool designed for internal organizational communication.
While Currents shared some features with Google+, it was built specifically to help organizations communicate and collaborate internally.
Currents helped employees stay connected across departments and organizational levels. In addition, G Suite admins and delegated content managers could moderate content and conversations. This helped organizations maintain productive and relevant discussions.
Stay Informed With Relevant Content
Another useful feature was Currents’ relevance ranking. Users could follow specific tags based on their interests. Then, relevant content would appear higher in their feeds.
As a result, employees could more easily find updates and conversations that mattered to them.
Keep Your Organization Connected
In short, Google Currents helped organizations improve communication by keeping employees informed and connected. Its features were designed to make internal communication easier and more efficient.
Beginning July 6, 2020, Google Currents became available to all G Suite customers as part of their subscription.
